HourSo is a Chrome extension that helps users schedule website blocking and protect focused browsing time.
Information HourSo processes
HourSo processes the following information locally in your browser:
- Your scheduled start and end times
- The website domains you choose to block
- Temporary pause status
- The URLs of open tabs, solely to determine whether a tab matches a domain you have chosen to block
Chrome classifies tab URLs as web-browsing history. HourSo uses this information only to provide its scheduled blocking functionality. HourSo does not send your browsing history, tab URLs, blocked-domain list, or schedule to the developer or any analytics service.
HourSo does not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers
- Passwords or authentication information
- Payment or financial information
- Health information
- Location information
- Page contents, form data, clicks, keystrokes, or other user activity
How information is used
HourSo uses locally processed information only to:
- Apply blocking rules to domains you select.
- Redirect matching open tabs to the HourSo focus page.
- Enable and disable blocking according to your schedule.
- Save your settings so they remain available in Chrome.
HourSo does not use information for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.
Storage and retention
Your HourSo settings are stored locally using Chrome extension storage. The developer does not receive or retain this information on a server.
You can remove your settings by resetting the extension settings or uninstalling HourSo. Uninstalling the extension removes its locally stored data according to Chrome’s storage behavior.
Third-party services
When a blocked page is displayed, HourSo may load a background image from Unsplash. This request is used only to display the image. HourSo does not send your schedule, blocked-domain list, or browsing history to Unsplash.
HourSo may also provide an optional link to Stripe for users who want to support the project. The link is user-initiated, and any payment information is handled directly by Stripe, not by HourSo.
You can review the third parties’ policies here:
Data sharing and selling
HourSo does not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties. HourSo does not transfer user data except where necessary to provide an extension feature, such as loading an optional Unsplash background image after a blocked page is displayed.
Security
HourSo does not operate a server that stores user settings or browsing information. Local data is managed by Chrome’s extension storage system.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if HourSo’s functionality or data practices change. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
